I've used Rachio for years, and currently own the 16 zone gen 3. Wouldn't use anything else. Set up, to include connecting it to my network, was a breeze. Not sure what the other reviewer is talking about as to these devices not being compatible with modern wifi ...I have used these controllers on 2.4 and 5ghz networks and am currently on wifi 6, without any problems. Love how this controller is set it and go ... don't have to manage it. Great at identifying that my area is getting rainand then skipping scheduled watering, and I recently connected my Rachio to my personal weather station, which makes my sprinkler controller even my accurate.Contact me for a complete copy of the transcript of a chat with Rachio - a company founded in 2013, well after the 2009 release of home 5.8GHz (802.11n) networks - yet their controllers won't work in the typical home network setup (2.4 + 5.8GHz).TL;DR: the customer service agent told me I would have to re-build my network topology to get it to connect.It WAS working fine, but apparently a firmware update broke it - and they refused to fix it.SO: IF YOU BUY THIS, KNOW THAT THEY *WILL NOT* replace your unit for failures on THEIR part.Mine was a Rachio 2 - now searching for a more reputable company ...
